About Causality

Causality is a Western Australian based guild with a 10 man raiding team as well as many social members. We enjoy a long tradition of success not just in raids but also in our aim to provide a community where everyone can enjoy playing WoW and also enjoy the company of their fellow guild members.

Our friendly guild environment has lead to many real life friendships and is the main reason a lot of us are still playing this game. We want new members to fit right in and feel at home. Consequently, if the social aspect of WoW doesn't tickle your fancy, or if a feast of fast and easy epics is what you are looking for - stop reading now, there will be little room for you among us.

Our members are mature, respectful and considerate to all players.

Our raiding members can be described as quality players who can't (or choose not to) commit to extensive raiding schedules.

We are mainly 21+ and from Perth, WA.

Leadership...

Causality is still lead by three of the founding officers; Verosfortis, Edwina and Elith. The role of the officers is to provide direction and guidelines, organise and lead raids, maintain guild tools like the website and manage recruiting. While we often make guild decisions it is usually after significant consultation with guild members. We believe equity and transparency are important aspects to guild leadership.

History...
Causality was established in November 2005 (when Frostmourne opened) by a handful of friends from Spinebreaker. We shared the idea of having a PvE progression focused guild that was also fun to be apart of and, importantly, raided at Australian times. The opening of the first oceanic servers was a golden opportunity to do this. Causality started with a clear vision and it seemed there were many that felt the same way we did and the guild flourished.

From Molten Core in vanilla and right the way through until Sunwell and the end of the Burning Crusade, Causality was a leading guild both in progression and reputation. We achieved things that other guilds gave up on like killing C'thun in AQ40 and pressing on in Sunwell  to kill Kil'Jaeden at the end of BC. Our turnover of members was low and our ability to fill raids week after week kept us strong resulting in 'hard core' like progression while in reality we never really pushed our members hard. Stability and teamwork (along with fun and friendships) was the basis of our success.

When Wrath of the Lich King came out we quickly progressed through all the content initially available (Naxx, OS, Malygos). Perhaps it was a bit too quickly. To some degree it seemed like things had been dumbed down, some of the members that had been with the guild since our first Ragnaros kill lost interest and, in a way, a well organised guild lost some of its relevance. There were also increasing time demands from outside the game on our core officers. So early on in Wrath it was decided that Causality would stop raiding but remain as a home for those who wanted it.

When Cataclysm was released those of us who had been playing causally through Wrath or stopped playing returned to see the new content and were pleasantly surprised. The new strategy to heroics, gear and raiding that Blizzard were pushing was refreshing and engaging. Finding it hard to play the game in a meaningful way without the option of seeing all of the content available; several of us (the original core officers) decided that Causality would once again be a raiding guild. However these days its a bit hard to return to 3 nights a week when real life gets in the way so the idea was borne that, with the same 10 week-in-week-out, you could see all the content the game had to offer with a commitment of just one night a week. So with most of the founding officers and a few original members we welcomed some new blood into Causality for 10m raiding.
